Creating spaces for ministry
vast experience creating spaces as we have been working with churches and ministries, both large and small, for 40+ years on hundreds of projects in 25+ states and jurisdictions.
NEW BUILDINGS (GROUND UP)
New church facilities on undeveloped land presents a unique opportunity for growth and community engagement. Designed to meet the diverse needs of the congregation while fostering a welcoming environment for all. Utilizing modern and traditional architectural styles, we create functional and inspiring places.
Sanctuaries / spaces for Worship
Styles include traditional, modern, retro and “black box” theaters, seating a few hundred to a few thousand. We craft spaces that reflect the vision and worship style of each individual church. We consider acoustics, sight lines and integrate technology to enhance worship and enable clarity in communication and teaching.
welcoming spaces (narthex, foyers)
Spacious lobbies offer a visitor-friendly environment that enhances comfort and welcomes congregants and visitors alike. These spaces also serve as a crucial hub to get oriented to the other ministry areas of the facility.
cafe’s / fellowship / relationship spaces
Cafe and fellowship spaces within a church serve as vital hubs where relationships are nurtured, and communities are strengthened. These areas provide a welcoming environment for congregants to come together over a cup of coffee, engage in meaningful conversations, and build connections beyond the traditional church services. The casual setting of a cafe encourages relaxed interactions, breaking down barriers and fostering a sense of belonging among members.
spaces for Little People
Ensuring a safe, organized, clean, and secure space for the youngest children promotes their well-being and development and gives parents a sense of security. A carefully planned environment not only protects children from harm but also facilitates their learning and growth. By creating a space that is conducive to exploration, creativity, and social interaction, we demonstrate the vale we place on the youngest members of our community.
children’s ministry spaces
Sunday mornings or mid-week programs, we seek to create spaces that are fun and engaging, equipped with technology and other tools to for learning and connection. We consider safety and security of paramount importance, from check-in to pick-up. Low-sensory rooms have also been developed for children needing special accommodations.
student & youth ministry spaces
Whether stand-alone buildings or spaces within a church facility, these can provide a sense of identity and importance to the next generation that we want to have a lasting connection to the community of faith.
schools & education spaces
Elementary and secondary schools, including STEM and ancillary facilities to support adult and Bible educational programs.
multi-use spaces
Flexible use spaces allow churches to optimize their investment. By incorporating multipurpose areas that can easily be adapted for various activities and events, churches can ensure their space is utilized efficiently throughout the week. These spaces can be transformed to accommodate worship services, community gatherings, youth activities, educational classes, and other events, maximizing the facility's potential and serving the needs of a diverse congregation.
new uses for old spaces (Adaptive Reuse)
These projects include old movie theaters, office buildings, shopping centers, and manufacturing facilities that have been given new life serving churches
spaces of historic significance
Some expansions, new construction and renovations to buildings that are either of a historic nature or located in a designated historic zone
Additions & transformations
Building additions meet growth needs, but they can also provide a fresh presentation to the community the church seeks to reach. And as churches change over time, spaces often need to be transformed to better serve ministry.
Mixed Use church developments
In urban and some suburban environments, churches can leverage valuable real estate by incorporating other uses, both residential and commercial
master plans for continued growth
This is where we start our work with most churches, crafting a strategic facility plan based on potential growth over time and phased to coincide with financial capacity
